DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops Material Collection
a. analyzes user needs/requests to determine needed information and assist in furnishing or locating that information;
b. coordinates selection of materials with needs and resources of other libraries and organizations;
c. encodes newly acquired books;
d. compiles lists of specific materials needed, deals with dealers, read reviews, find sources;
e. evaluates materials, print and non-print; and
f. decides in selecting materials to purchase and materials to withdraw. - Organizes Material Collection
Develops library policies and procedures;
b. designs filing system for users services;
c. determines needs and plans re-classification;
d. updates subject heading lists to accommodate scientific changes in readers interest and use of terminology; and
e. organizes the collection of books, publications, documents, audio-visual aids and other reference materials for convenient access. - Prepares and Maintains of Collection
Determines methods and techniques for the physical preparation, maintenance and preservation of library materials; and
b. arranges the disposition of materials withdrawn through exchange, or discard. - Controls Circulation
Establishes inventory control system for all types of materials;
b. responds to sensitive complaints;
c. supervises the establishment or reserve collection; and
d. coordinates policies with other libraries. - Manages Other General Duties
Encourages the use of library resources to employees and students;
b. keeps the working condition of the library safe, clean and convenient;
c. ensures that the objectives of the library are met;
d. monitors the performance of the library; and
e. maintains an order of all catalog, files and references to easy access to users. - Performs other related duties as assigned by the immediate superior.
