A Verse by Antonella Anedda

August 25, 2026

Overwhelmed by longing, dazed by dreams, with wind-worn towels and the quick, incomplete glimpse of a house at dawn. There, the air holds the buzz of a vacuum gliding over carpets and the soft thud of rugs against walls. In the lengthy span of an April storm before they tilt us to our sides and fling the glass doors open to visitors. Then the lighting and sounds shift: the wall remains pale from the rain, the ceiling stretches high above us, and footsteps become careful through the hallways.

alte case sprangate e lampade accanto a tavoli (ora tondi, ora quadrati)
piccoli tavoli

Not a shield, not quiet
not the voices of human beings
but the plant moved before the balcony with rain-opened panes.
Beyond the tree and the roof
tall houses with doors shut and lamps beside tables (some round, some square)
small tables
on which cards are laid out. The water flowed, not hail; no fury in the thunder’s roar; the tree bent pale
the roof dark and flawless
an axis of a living geometry the city separated from the air.

I write about books as quiet places where memory, imagination, and culture meet. At PLAI, I explore literature through reviews, author stories, reading reflections, and the small details that make a story stay with us long after the final page.
