The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI), in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) through the National Committee on Library and Information Services (NCLIS), and the National Library of the Philippines (NLP), will be conducting its Annual National Congress on 22-25 November 2022 at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City,
Philippines.
This year’s Congress has the theme: “Working Together: Sustainability, Opportunity, Adaptability, Resiliency (SOAR)”, and aims to:
• Describe how today’s libraries translate the changing needs and services into functional, inspiring, and adaptable spaces for the future, especially considering the pandemic.
• Discuss the resiliency of libraries and librarians in the face of disruption caused by outbreaks/pandemic, highlighting examples of library resilience during these unprecedented times, including evidence of library roles in providing research assistance to clients.
• Demonstrate the significant initiatives, sustainability and adaptability measures conducted in libraries which can be followed by others to meet the post lockdown needs.
There will be plenary sessions and parallel sessions sponsored by sectoral library associations to discuss topics relevant to the different type of libraries (i.e., academic, public, school, and special). In line with this, we are inviting you and your staff to attend this year’s National Congress and join our Annual General Assembly for updates and provide a venue for discussion of concerns about our Association and the profession in general.
