In this episode, host Michael Kelleher chats with S. Shakthidharan (often called Shakthi) about Hilda Rosner’s English rendering of Siddhartha, Hermann Hesse’s timeless tale of personal discovery and illumination.
S. Shakthidharan was born in Sri Lanka and grew up in Sydney, Australia, the city where he continues to live. His stage works include Counting and Cracking (co-created with Eamon Flack) and The Wrong Gods. He has received multiple recognitions, including the Green Room Award for Outstanding New Australian Writing (2024) and the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and Drama Prize (2020), among others.
